Powerjam Roller Skate: Local Skating Community
Project Details
Powerjam Roller Skate is a roller skating club based in Vienna, Austria. The group was founded in 2020 by two longtime skaters, Riannon and Eva, with the goal of cultivating a local quad roller skating community. Powerjam Roller Skate is now a non-profit with over 100 members. By 2022 the original Jimdo website was no longer serving the organization's needs.
As a member, I volunteered to migrate their website to WordPress, while also adding some much needed features such as a calendar of events, online event registration, and a bi-lingual option so users can easily switch between German and English.
Project Tasks
Migration
All website content was migrated from Jimdo to WordPress. We maintained the exact same design while improving responsiveness and usability.
Calendar
A calendar was added so event announcements would be easier to share. The calendar has multiple views and sorting features providing a clear overview of upcoming events.
Member & Event Registration
The option for event registration is integrated with the calendar. Powerjam administrators can create custom registration forms, wait lists and manage attendee information for any event.
Bi-Lingual Site
Using WPML, we created a German and English version of the site. Users can now easily switch the site language using a link in the menu. As an admin, content can be easily added and translated on the back-end.
